“No. I gave you back your access. I just didn’t take mine all the way out. You didn’t specify that I had to.”
We didn’t make it all the way up to the studio. Not at first.
We stayed there the rest of the day, so I could work and still have her nearby. Not that I left the studio to do any of that.
Fiona was asleep in the bed when Keith came in that evening.
“We’ve got a problem.” He kept his voice low, not wanting to wake her.
“What’s wrong?” I matched his level as I moved further away from her and closer to where he stood at the door.
“Russians are here. They just came in. They are looking around, probably for you.”
I hustled over to the dresser and pulled out a fresh pair of jeans and a black shirt. “Who is leading them? Do we know?”
“It looks like Ivan’s younger brother. Without an heir, the Bratva would look to him for leadership.”
I picked up my shoes and carried them out the door as we left. “What’s our relationship with him like?”
Keith shrugged, kicking the bra still on the elevator floor out into the walkway before the studio. “Don’t really have one. He wasn’t local until recently. Your guess is as good as mine.”
By the time we stepped off in front of the office, I was put together and ready to work.
“Go down and bring him up. We’re going to need privacy for this.” I sat behind my desk and opened the computer like I was going to be working, business as usual.
Keith smirked and walked back out.
Feeling curious, I logged into my database and looked through all of my employees and everyone who was cleared to use the elevator. I couldn’t find her.
I blinked rapidly, startled, when the screen suddenly changed on me. I was looking at my database, but a different side of it. I saw her name listed, but it wasn’t Fiona. The person listed as the main administrator was Princess Fiona - Ruler of All Things Indecent.
I laughed. Hard.
I laughed even harder when a picture of Princess Fiona from Shrek filled the screen. It was the one of her looking out the window of the castle she was locked in, looking sad and depressed. Then a clip of Shrek battling his way through the castle appeared. Then of him walking away after letting the evil guy take his princess. I picked up my phone and messaged her.
Me: I did not abandon you. There is an issue I need to deal with. And Keith is not the villain.
MyPrincess: I call it like I see it. *sad face emoji*
