“What kind of answers?” Malcolm asked.
“The kind that involves learning more about what my grandmother was trying to do.” He took a deep breath. “She was obviously here for a reason. I don’t know what it was. I don’t know that I can find answers to that here.”
“You mean going to Korthal?”
“Korthal doesn’t really exist. Not anymore. I don’t know where Xavier has been going, but it’s not Korthal.”
“So we get Xavier,” Rowan said, “we make him take us on his trade route, and we go that way?”
She made it sound so simple, but in Laric’s mind, it was anything but simple. Because he wasn’t sure that taking that trade route was the right strategy. Maybe going by dragonback was the right way for him. If he did that, he wasn’t sure that the others could come, and increasingly, Laric didn’t know that he wanted to go on his own.
“That, or another way,” he said. “Because I need to know more about my grandmother. To do that, I’m going to have to find my uncle, and I’m going to have to learn what he was keeping from me. More than that, I’m going to have to learn what the dragons were fighting.”
He looked up at the sky, and he felt a strange tremble from Sashaak.
“Because it’s more than just the mages,” Laric said. “And I think we need to know what that is, before that threat makes its way here.”

Laric discovers there are places even dragons can’t reach. The Dragon Dawn series continues.
Pursuing the Grand Mage forces Laric Mason to make a choice—stay and protect his home, or chase a threat that poses a danger to all of the remaining dragons.
As Laric learns the truth of his grandmother’s quest for glyph knowledge, he uncovers even greater dangers than he could have imagined.
And his uncle had not told him the truth of what Korthal faced. The Grand Mage may be a part of something much larger than Laric had imagined.
If he can’t find the answers his grandmother sought, his home might not be the only land destroyed.
