“Now, you go about your life while Dad gets answers.” He squeezes her shoulder.
“What if he can’t?” She sounds so sad, and Mark just laughs.
“He’s being tortured in Hell, sweetheart. They always talk.”

Harleigh
Colten’s father is taking longer for Lucifer to break than we anticipated.
Well, okay, that’s not exactly true. He’s caved and told us a lot of things, but Gramps is positive there’s more he isn’t saying, and I’m getting frustrated.
“Whoa, watch it Harls!” Addy yells at me from across the field, and I wince. That fire ball got a little too close to her.
“Oops?” I grimace, and she narrows her eyes at me, but the smile on her lips betrays her annoyance.
“You’re lucky I love you, bitch.” She crosses the field and stands beside me as we watch the guys practice their abilities with each other. “How are you holding up?” she asks, and I sigh, never taking my eyes off my guys.
“Annoyed. Scared.” I see her nodding off to the side.
“Me too.”
We all are in some way or another.
This wasn’t exactly the college experience any of us were anticipating when we showed up here Freshman Year.
“So, your abilities are pretty cool.” I look away from the guys to smile at her, and she laughs.
“Sure, I guess.” She shrugs.
“Pfft, I’d kill to have your speed and hearing, Adds.” I would too. I fucking hate running, and here she has the ability to run so fast she’s nothing but a blur.
“Well, they definitely have their benefits. But mind control? That shit is terrifying, Harls. Seriously.”
I nod, because I can see that.
“That’s fair. I wouldn’t want anyone controlling my mind, that’s for sure.” I shiver.
“Well, your mind can’t be controlled. I’m pretty sure your demon boy-toy tried that already.” She chuckles, and I smile.
“Oh, I know.” I laugh remembering how pissed Colten used to get Freshman Year when he tried so hard to possess me. “He still grumbles about it from time to time.” I shrug, and she laughs before pointing to a group of guys walking our way.
“Ladies,” the main guy says, and I recognize him as Colten’s ‘friend’, Pete. “Strange to see you alone.” He looks me up and down, and I narrow my eyes at him, making him and the group laugh.
“Not that strange,” I state.
My eyes move to look behind him, taking in my guys. They haven’t seen this yet, but this guy is going to get his ass kicked if they don’t move along and fast.
“Are you looking to add to that little harem of yours, babe? Because I’d be a more than willing participant.” He licks his lips before turning his sights on Adeline, and she scrunches up her nose. “Your friend can even join in.”
She pretends to gag, and I laugh with her which just pisses Pete off.
“Sorry, we’re not interested. Move it along.” But he doesn’t.
No, like the idiot Colten always said he was, he moves closer to me until he’s flush against the front of my body.
Oh, hell no. I am definitely not in the mood for this shit, and I don’t need to rely on the guys or Dad to deal with him, either.
Narrowing my eyes at him, I take a deep breath to centre myself, then flick my wrist and send him flying a few feet back until he lands on his ass.
That draws the guys’ attention. Unfortunately, it also drew the attention of all our classmates as well as Dad, and he’s definitely not happy.
Shit.
“What the hell is going on here?” Dad asks as he steps up to us. Sometimes I really hate having him as a teacher.
“That bitch threw me for no reason!” Pete hollers, pushing himself up off the ground. His face is so red I swear there should be steam coming out of his ears.
Just as Dad’s about to say something, Orion reaches Pete and grabs his shoulder, turning him around and punching him right in the face. The idiot howls in pain as his hands cover his nose, catching the blood that is flowing fast and hard.
Oh, his nose is definitely broken.
“Enough!” Dad looks to me as everyone freezes. “Now, what the hell happened, Harleigh?”
Screw him and his professor voice. I know I’m about to get in trouble for this when he uses that voice on me.
“It’s simple, Professor Daniels.” I see him flinch when I call him that in such a cold tone. He doesn’t like this role playing any more than I do. “Him and his buddies came up to us, said some inappropriate things, and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with it.” I shrug and he sighs, the anger clearly still there. Just now it’s not all directed at me.
