Linda nodded numbly and sat back down. Chris looked up from his desk, his office door open. He didn’t say anything and neither did I. I was in a hurry.

Jorge and I slid into my backseat while BoBo jumped in the front. Sitting still wasn’t working for me, so I called Keith.

“Do you have Bunny?”

“Yes. She’s in the studio acting like she is the Queen of the castle. What’s going on?”

“Fiona was able to make contact. I believe they are having her work off Randy’s debt. That’s what makes the most sense. She managed to send us a message of sorts. One of them sounds like she was calling Bunny a spy. Ivan is a favorite client of hers, she may have said things she wasn’t supposed to. Care to get her to talk?”

Keith snorted. “Not really, but I will. There is only one way that works with her.”

I grinned. “Well, we did say you needed to find your own entertainment.”

I could picture his grimace perfectly. He thought she was hot, but her personality tended to turn him off. I was sure Ivan had used the same methods Keith was about to. But Ivan probably enjoyed it more.

I spent the rest of the drive, after messaging Bruno where we were headed, just staring out the window. My mind flew back to that perfect weekend in Ventura.

Chapter 14

Dillan

By the time Fiona pulled into her parking garage, with her new little Toyota Corolla - because it was just her, so why did she need a bigger or fancier car - I had a bag packed for her and stowed in the trunk of my Aviator.

“Hey, beautiful.” I greeted her in the lobby. If she went up to her apartment, we’d probably never leave. And not just because of her.

“Hello yourself, handsome.” She grinned as she leaned in and kissed me.

Over her shoulder, I saw the security guard shaking his head with silent laughter. It was better than the worry he had a few moments ago. Someone had been spotted watching the building. He had a picture of the guy and wanted me to know. Eventually I would tell Fiona that her brother had found her. I figured he probably followed her home from dinner on Sunday. Now that she had her own car, she could get home on her own.

I frequently kicked myself for that one. I liked giving Fiona rides. The best times were when we were stuck in traffic on the freeway. My girl didn’t like people watching, but she enjoyed the thrill of hiding and nearly getting caught. And I enjoyed the things she did to me while I drove.

“What are you doing down here? Are you leaving?” She frowned. Her dislike of me leaving always filled me with this weird light, happy feeling.

“No.” I brushed my hands through her beautiful brown hair. “I was waiting for you.”

“Down here? In the lobby?”

I kissed her forehead and smiled. “Yes, I don’t trust myself to leave again when the bed is close by.”

Fiona went on her toes to whisper in my ear. “Since when did we need a bed for that?”

I snagged her hand and pulled her toward the exit, making both the security guard and the doorman laugh. “On that note, we need to get moving.”

“Where are we going?” Fiona laughed happily, moving faster to wrap her arms around my back. I slowed my walk so she wouldn’t fall. I enjoyed her there, her arms holding me.

My car was parked out front, something the doorman had let me do, frequently. “I’m taking you out on a real date.”

Fiona paused, one foot in the door. “Dillan…”
