“Well, it’s not like you asked me to move in with you.”
I stood up, lifting her onto the counter, and pressed my forehead to hers. “I don’t care where we live, as long as I have you. As long as I can fall asleep with you in my arms and wake up to your hair in my face.” I slid my fingers through her hair but stopped to grab the back of her head. “I love you, Fiona Reynolds.
A tear slid down her face and wiped it with my thumb.
“I love you too, Rolland Dillan Murphy.”
I groaned. “I’m not even going to ask how you found that name. Please never say it again. You have no idea how many times I was teased for it as a kid.”
She giggled and wrapped her arms around my neck. “I like it. Rolland.” It almost sounded better coming from her. Almost.
“You can call me that if you want.” She grinned greedily. “But then I will be calling you Pixie.”
That grin quickly turned into a frown. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Oh, wouldn’t I? I feel like you should know me better than that by now.”
“Gah, fine.”
I saw the tick of her lips and jumped in to cut off the next one. “No Dill Pill either.”
Fiona stuck her tongue out at me. I quickly caught it with my teeth. She quickly forgot what we were talking about.
What were we talking about?
I was perfectly happy just kissing my naked girlfriend, the love of my life, but the naughty little thing started in on my pants. I panted as I pulled away from her.
“We don’t have to. Not until you’re ready.”
“Dillan, shut up and get in here.”
“Yes, ma’am.” I saluted her as she pushed the constrictive material down.
I held her against me sometime later, grateful I hadn’t turned the shower on yet, not quite ready to leave her body. When I moved my head back, she came off my chest and looked up at me.
“You scared the hell out of me today. Katia came running to the club, completely frantic. Don’t worry, I had Jorge send her and Linda a message. You can call them later.” The new tension in her shoulders began to relax again. “I didn’t know what to do. I ran into your office like a complete lunatic. Shouting for Linda because I didn’t know which office was yours. I had a Senior Partner monitoring me to make sure I wasn’t a danger. I nearly lost it when I saw your note. When Gary told me who you had gone to lunch with… I…” I trailed off, all my fear finally breaking through the surface.
I just got her, and I already nearly lost her. I wasn’t sure I would ever come back from something like that.
