“Since when do you follow him?” This woman never stopped surprising me.
“I don’t. I hacked his account. It’s a game we’ve been playing. He keeps trying to one-up me. Really, I just keep getting more points.”
“No wonder he is half in love with you.”
She tipped her chin up enough to kiss my neck. “Too bad I love someone else.”
Feeling that rush of love again, I looked down into her eyes. It wasn’t long before I kissed her softly. I was vaguely aware of Keith crawling up to the front seat, grumbling. It wasn’t like I was going to do anything to her. Not right now. Not when the memories of those men on top of her were still fresh in her mind.
Still, I let her rotate enough to sit on my lap. And I took great pleasure in kissing her long and hard, reminding myself she was back where she belonged.
What felt like minutes later, BoBo pulled up to her apartment.
“I thought we were going back to your place.” She mumbled as I kissed down her neck.
“And I thought you might prefer to be in your own place tonight. Somewhere more familiar and comfortable.”
“Thank you. But either place would have been fine. I am perfectly comfortable at your place.”
I hummed. I liked the sound of that.
“Will you two just get out of this car already?” Keith half whined, half commanded.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” I climbed out first, then waited for Fiona to join me. I lifted her again since her pants still showed a little too much.
“What’s wrong? What happened?” The security guard, whose name I really should have gotten by now, came running over.
“She’s okay. Just had a really bad day.”
“Do I need to call in the night shift early?”
“No. The threat has been eliminated. She will be safe now. Thank you, though.”
Fiona laid in my arms quietly as I carried her through the lobby and up the elevator. I carried her all the way into her bathroom, having stopped long enough for her to lock the front door behind us.
“We should really just consolidate our apartments. This going back and forth thing is getting old.”
I carefully removed her clothes, keeping an eye out for more bruises. “Is that your way of asking me to officially move in?” I smiled up at her from where I was pulling her pants off her feet. I closed my eyes, enjoying the feeling of her hands in my hair.
