Dedication

This novel highlights the bonds of family and friendship. I’ve dedicated earlier novels to various family members, and they all remain close to my heart. I think of my family as I write, and I strive to make them proud of me.

This book is dedicated to my friends, both new and old. I have been blessed to find trusted companions and colleagues in each phase of my life. The humor and compassion of my friends shepherd me through the stresses of daily living.

In particular, I dedicate this book to Sylvia, who now has known me longer than almost everyone alive except my siblings. We see each other rarely these days, but when we do, the years fall away.
