JODI LEE: Are you going to be okay to finish the interview?
MARLOW FIN: Yes . . . I’m sorry. I’m ready now.
[Voice-over]
JODI LEE: After thirty minutes away from the set, Marlow did come back to our interview. This time alone, without any of her team. She insisted they stay out of the studio, much to their objections. She seemed calmer and more alert upon her return.
It was at this portion of our interview that things began to take a turn toward the unexpected—something neither myself nor my producers could have ever anticipated.
[Studio]
JODI LEE: Are you sure you’re ready, Marlow? I’m going to be asking some really tough questions. You agreed to this. No holds barred.
MARLOW FIN: Let’s finish this.
JODI LEE: September 7, 2020. Your sister, Isla Baek-Ford, goes missing. You are the last person to see her alive.
The last person.
How do you explain that?
MARLOW FIN: I can’t.
JODI LEE: Her blood was found in the shed. On your dress. Why is it, then, that you can’t explain your sister’s whereabouts?
MARLOW FIN: You don’t understand, Jodi. I simply can’t explain it.
JODI LEE: Do you understand why it sounds like you are lying?
MARLOW FIN: Yes.
JODI LEE: Your father seems to think he can explain it. He seems to think you did it. That you murdered your sister in cold blood.
[Roll package, recent footage of Patrick Baek]
JODI LEE: Since the disappearance of his daughter, Patrick Baek has been very clear and vocal as to his belief that Marlow is responsible.
[Patrick followed by reporters going into his house, turns and shouts at them]
You want to know the truth? She killed her. She killed my daughter. Marlow Fin killed my daughter!
[Studio]
JODI LEE: Your father has not referred to you as his “daughter” since that September 2020 day. He refers to you only as Marlow Fin.
MARLOW FIN: Just like everyone else.
JODI LEE: Yes. Does this bother you?
MARLOW FIN: That he doesn’t call me his daughter? Or that he thinks I’m a murderer?
JODI LEE: Marlow. [Leans in] You truly can’t look me in the eye and tell me what happened the night of September 7, 2020? You can’t finally give it some peace . . . let the truth come out?
MARLOW FIN: No. I can’t.
JODI LEE: [Pauses] Why?
MARLOW FIN: Because . . .
JODI LEE: [Nods]
MARLOW FIN: [Voice shaky] I don’t remember.
JODI LEE: You don’t remember.
MARLOW FIN: [Inaudible]
JODI LEE: Marlow?
MARLOW FIN: Yes. [Crying]
JODI LEE: I’m here. Don’t forget that. I’m here. Just you and me right now. Everything else is background noise. Okay?
MARLOW FIN: Okay.
