Okay, Harleigh, think. Attack the fucking thing.

What can you do? You can’t throw it because it has a death grip on you.

Just as I close my eyes, ready to channel my power and burn the fucker, it lifts me off the ground.

I fucking hate heights.

Okay, don’t panic. You’ve got this.

I close my eyes and imagine the fire flicking through my veins, trying not to think about how high above the ground I might be.

Taking a deep breath, I let the fire flow freely through me until an ungodly screeching sound comes from above me. Opening my eyes, I can see I’ve hit my target as the animal flies around, trying to get away from the heat of the flames to no avail.

It can’t outrun the death I’ve brought it.

Just when I think I’m going to need to throw more fire at it, the claws holding me let go, and I’m free falling through the air, screaming and closing my eyes tightly. I feel myself slowing down and my body righting itself as my feet hit the ground with a soft thud, and I open my eyes, looking around me to see what happened.

Nothing and no one is around me.

Instead of panicking, because I’ve already done enough of that the last couple minutes, I close my eyes and try to focus on the guys.

I’ve never tried it, but I remember Brian saying he could sense demons. He could feel the difference in their energies like a fingerprint.

If he’s half angel and can sense them, then I should be able to as well. Right?

I’m close enough to the guys that I’m sure, if I could tap into that ability, I could tell their energies from everything else around us.

“Focus, Harleigh. Breathe in and out, and think only about them. Feel them. They are a part of you. Do not open your eyes, just put all your focus on them, and the love you have for them.” I hear Him speak to me and I smile, but do as He says.

He’s God. If anyone knows how to use the tracking thing, it’s Him.

Taking a moment to shut off all the sounds around me, I look inside myself until my only thoughts and feelings are on my guys. The other pieces of my soul.

I focus on the love I feel for them, the passion and desire. But more than that, I focus on how complete they make me feel.

Suddenly, my body is jolted through the air, and I feel like I’m on some sort of crazy carnival ride. I feel like I’ve left my body, but at the same time, like I’m going to throw up my insides, and I can’t catch my breath.

“Where the fuck is she?!” Colten is yelling a few feet from me, and I snap my eyes open, feeling dizzy.

“How the fuck am I supposed to know?!” Orion growls at him, and Bry steps between them.

“We won’t find her as long as you two keep snapping. Shut up and listen, see if you hear anything.”

“Guys?” I clear my throat, and they all turn in my direction before running to me. “I don’t feel so good right now.” My head is spinning, and I feel like I’ve caught some sort of terrible flu bug. Everything hurts, and I’m drained.

“Let’s get you out of here.” I start to nod in agreement when something grabs Brian from behind and pulls him back.

“Fuck you, you slimy piece of shit!” I scream at it, lifting my hand and throwing it back the second it raises something high above his head.

There’s a loud thud that shakes the ground as it lands far away from us, and I run to check on Bry, making sure he’s alright. Before I can make it there, my knees give out, and Orion barely has time to catch me before I collapse.

“Something’s wrong,” I whisper, feeling more lightheaded and weaker by the second.

“No shit. We need to get you out of here,” he growls with concern.

“Bry!” I screech, and he looks down at me once before nodding and running us over to where Colt is helping Bry up from the ground.

“You good? Cause we need to get her out of here. Something is wrong,” Orion snaps out, and Bry nods before everything starts to fade out. “Call Lucifer,” he commands me, but before I can, we are surrounded by a group of dark animals that look to be a cross between wolves and lions. One lunges at Colten as I lose the last of my energy to keep my head up.

“No!” I scream, holding my hand out and throwing all the energy into it that I can.

The last thing I remember is a bright light blinding me before I pass out.

Colten

“She’s going to be alright.” Lucifer comes back into the room as we watch our girl sleep.

Whatever the fuck that thing was that grabbed her, it had punctured a small hole into a vein in her wrist, and she was bleeding out slowly. That’s why she was dizzy and passed out.

It was easy for Brian to heal her once we figured out what was wrong, but I was still at a loss for what happened before she passed out.

I have never seen a light that bright. It was white and blinding, and pure. Just like our girl.

I was sure that thing was going to attack me, but it never got the chance. Actually, nothing else got the chance to attack any of us. As soon as Lucifer saw the light, he came into the room, and got us all out of there.

“What happened down there?” I ask, looking between him and angel boy. Whatever that was, it wasn’t a demon power, so it had to come from the angel in her.
