I looked forward and could see His shadow in the distance but approaching fast. When He got closer the more my heart felt like it was melting and the warmer I got. I continued to look at His shadow when I started hearing laughter again.

“Look at what you did to Him!” the voice said.

I was eye to eye with Jesus. He was silent and standing before me. He was radiant and beautiful, and all I could do was cry.

I examined Him and saw Him with the nails in His hands and feet. He was hanging there right in front of me on the cross being crucified again for me. I felt horrible; this became as personal as personal could get. I knew He hung on the cross, naked, ashamed, and beaten just for me and my sins and my foolishness.

I bent my head down as close to the ground as I could, ashamed to even look at what my life did to Jesus. I could feel the pain in His heart for just me. And I knew at this moment there were only two words I could offer my Lord and Savior.

Chapter 30

Say It

After a few moments I had a deep desire to look at Him. It was as if He was silently calling my name. His eyes pierced my heart and soul as He displayed His love for only me on the cross.

I could no longer hear the voices of the mockers but only the voice of the King.

“I love you, Reese.”

I couldn’t hold my head up any longer but reverenced the Lord, and dropped not only my head but my whole body to the ground in a lifeless manner, and covered my face with my trembling hands in silence.

“See, I told you, He died for you ruthless, terrible creatures,” the voice stated.

I grabbed some of the burnt grass that was in front of me on the ground in anguish. There was nothing I could do, no take backs, no starting over. I knew I couldn’t take back the way I had lived life on the earth and the mistakes I had made.

My heart ached knowing that I caused Jesus to come to hell. It was my torment. I thought I had a little more time to clean up my life and get it together, to say “I’m sorry, Lord,” but it was too late, the game was over.

I crawled closer to the bottom of His cross and cried out, “I love you.” I felt His blood dripping on my hair and He cried as I reached for Him. In that very second He was off the cross. The voice was gone, and I was standing back in the beautiful mansion I was first in.

Jesus was standing there, clothed in a purple garment, with a crown on His head. It was made of gold I had never inquired on earth before and there were jewels everywhere in it. They were embedded in and around it, and in the center of the crown sat a beautiful emerald.

I lay at His feet and looked at Him and wanted to say to Him what He knew I needed to say. I knew He had rescued me. I looked into His beautiful eyes. Jesus smiled at me as I moved my lips and started to speak.

“Reese, baby, wake up,” Kev demanded.

I opened my eyes and smiled at Kev.

“What, babe? What you trying to say?” he asked.

I could hear the ambulance approaching the house to try to rescue me, but at this point I didn’t care if they did or didn’t; I had made my peace.

Kev pulled me close to his ear and said, “Say it, babe. Please just say it.”

My chest heaved up and down as I began to gurgle on my own blood. One thought came to my mind before I uttered the words. I realized that whether I lived or died I was promised life eternal. So I looked up and I smiled at Kev; then I let the words fall from my lips: “I repent.”

Altar Call

Jesus, come into my life. I want to be free. No more prisons, no chains, no darkness.

Jesus, I ask you to shine the light of Glory on my life, my situations, on me. Save me. Make me new. I repent of my sins. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe you are the Son of God. I confess with my mouth that You died for my sins on the cross, and I believe in my heart that God has raised You from the dead.

Romans 10:9 says that if you confess with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.

For godly sorrow produces repentances leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

–2 Corinthians 7:10

I Repent was inspired by the Holy Spirit. It was written to plead with the human race to repent unto the Lord. Reese was one young woman’s testimony but there are many of stories that could be told describing the rebellious behavior that we take part in as humans.

I assure you that this story was one, but we as people live every day of our lives going on as if we have plenty of time to say sorry unto the Lord and repent.

But the truth be told, we never know when it will be too late.

We never know when the last time we say in our minds this is the last time I’m gonna do this Jesus, that it is indeed the last time.

From the time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
