The sound of her giggles floated through the air, and Myles vowed he’d always try to make sure she had a reason to laugh.

Just not anything that would cause pain to him. He was definitely going to be sore in the morning.

He rolled them over, landing on top of her. The grass was thick, but it certainly didn’t cushion his fall too well.

“So that was funny, huh?” he growled. He pushed her arms over her head.

“I’m sorry,” she hiccupped. Tears escaped her eyes while giggles still escaped her.

“I got you.” He gripped her wrists in one hand and slid his free one down her side and gave her a little tickle.

She howled and tried to buck him off her. Her laughter grew until screams escaped her.

“Uncle!” she cried while kicking her legs.

Myles released her. Her chest was rising and falling fast while she tried to catch her breath. He stared down into her beautiful eyes. She quieted, and they just gazed at each other.

He trailed a hand over her face, wiping the wetness from her skin.

“I don’t want to give you a big head or anything, but I did miss you,” she whispered.

“I missed you, too.” He leaned down and pressed a chaste peck to her lips.

How did he think he was going to be satisfied with just one kiss?

He covered her mouth with his again. Roxxy released a moan while encircling his neck with her arms to bring him close to her. He took advantage of just them out in nature to properly kiss her the way he had been wanting to.

He hardened, but now wasn’t the time. Myles lifted his head to find Midnight grazing near them. The horse was curiously observing them while he munched on the grass.

“Are you hungry?” Roxxy asked. Her lips were swollen from their kiss.

“Yeah. I’m famished.”

Not for food.

He needed Roxxy.

Myles wasn’t ready to perform with a nosey horse standing next to them.

“We will finish this later,” he promised. He pushed off the ground and held out a hand for Roxxy.

“I’m counting on it.” Her smaller hand slipped into his.

He hefted her up onto her feet. She stumbled and landed against him. He released a groan at the feel of her.

“Momma’s cooking is famous.” Roxxy patted his abdomen. She reached up and pressed a kiss to his chin. “Come on so I can feed my man.”

She rotated and walked back to Sunshine. His gaze dropped down to her ass.

He adjusted himself in his jeans. Roxxy turned and caught him staring at her. She tossed him wink.

Busted, but he didn’t care.

It was a fine ass.

“What about the them?” Myles glanced at Midnight who didn’t have a care in the world. Myles was impressed how trained they were.

“Take his reins and bring him over here. We can let them graze while we eat.”

“Come on, boy,” he murmured. He took the leather straps and guided the horse over to where Roxxy and Sunshine stood.

Roxxy pulled out a large blanket from her saddlebag and handed it to him. “Spread that out for me, sweetie.”

They worked together to get their picnic set up. Myles took in all of the food Mrs. Sutton had packed away for them.

“Are we expecting company?” he joked, sitting on the blanket next to Roxxy.

“My mom tends to go overboard a little.” Roxxy chuckled. She reached inside a cooler bag and brought out wrapped sandwiches.

Myles hadn’t realized how hungry he was until he saw the food spread out in front of them. His stomach growled.

“Here are some cold-cut sandwiches. I don’t know what she does to these things, but they are addictive.”

She handed him one. The six-inch sandwich was filled with meat and all of the fixings. They had potato salad, fruit, brownies, and a thermos of iced sweet tea. Mrs. Sutton had certainly outdone herself.

They ate in a comfortable silence.

Roxxy was right. Her mother did something magical to the sandwiches. Her potato salad was like no other one he’d had before. The iced tea was just what he was expecting from a southerner.
