Damn it… If only I hadn’t used up all of my EXP Amulets earlier.
I would have totally wrecked it in this fight!
I also couldn’t use a revive vial to double our rewards here, seeing as it only worked for monsters.
Oh well. To be fair, I couldn’t complain. I added eight to charisma, 30 toward agility, and 20 toward stamina. When I passed level 50, I had six points to allocate instead of five.
Even Rufian was thrilled, my party member jumping up to level 68.
Batto, who was now at level 48, slid down the snout of the beast and tackled his little brother with a hug. My chest fluttered as they shared a moment, Creed hiding his tears in his big brother’s chest. “We saved our village!” Batto cried. “We did it, Creed. I’m proud of you.”
I was proud of them as well. Especially Batto who dealt the final blow.
After he had his wholesome moment with his little brother, he tried to wipe the tears from his eyes as he approached Rufian and me. “Thank you, Syodas. And thank you, Rufian. You’ve done the fae of Citron a great service, and I can’t express my appreciation enough. Because of you two, my people will survive.”
Creed chased after his brother with a big ol’ smile on his face as he reached into his inventory and gave me something. “Here, as promised,” he said, offering me the Eye of Zeppu. “I wish I could have given you something better, though. We didn’t expect to make a killing here!”
I chuckled. “Nonsense! I’m just happy you two are safe, and you’ll be returning to your family with great news.”
“Speaking of, we would like to invite both of you to our home,” Batto offered.
“Yeah! Have a meal with us!” Creed beamed. “Our mom is an amazing chef!”
I laughed. “Sure. We’d love to.”
