My eyes widen. “He’s meeting with God?” I ask like an idiot, and he nods.
“There’s been some… issues.”
Holy shit.
Holy fucking shit. Lucifer is meeting with God.
The fire soon stops to show Harleigh now asleep as Orion picks her up, cradling her in his arms. Darren lays on the floor asleep and very much alive, and we all let out a collective sigh of relief knowing that will help Harleigh.

Lucifer
There are many places in Heaven that this meeting could have taken place, but leave it to good ol’ Dad to choose His flower garden.
I fucking hate flowers.
“Lucifer.” His voice booms around me as if He has surround sound as He steps into view. “It’s been a while.” His voice changes to sound normal now as He stops a few feet from me, producing a couple of chairs from thin air.
I’m too tired to refuse it, even though a deep part of me wants to act the ever-petulant child I once was.
“Father,” I greet Him as I sit. “Thank you for meeting with me.”
He gives me a small smile.
“I would do anything for my great granddaughter,” He says, and I snort before His words sink in.
I narrow my eyes at him.
“You knew about her?”
“I’ve always known. I know everything.”
Un-fucking-believable! He knew I had a granddaughter and never told me? I mean, I know I did some fucked up shit centuries ago, but that seems like something I should have been made aware of.
“Why?” I don’t need to explain what I’m asking. He knows.
“Because she needed to grow up the way she did, without influence from either side. She was right where she was meant to be.” The scales. Again with the fucking scales.
“She’s my family.” I grind my teeth, and He nods.
“As she is mine. You have to realize just how powerful this makes her.” I blink at Him. “No one in Heaven or Hell was aware of her existence but me. I did that for a reason.”
“Care to let me in on this reason, since everything has gone to shit?” He narrows His eyes at me, but doesn’t bother trying to chastise me for my language. I’ve long since passed the point of no return on that one.
“She grew up neutral. Neither side knew about her, so she wouldn’t be influenced. She has more power than anyone earth-bound ever has before.”
“Fuck,” I hiss under my breath. “You’re saying she has powers from you as well as me, but because she wasn’t influenced by either world, she can tap into all of it?” He nods.
Fucking, fuck.
“You’re going to need to go in a moment, but I need you to listen to me, Son.”
I swallow as emotion builds in my throat. It’s been a long time since He’s called me His son.
“Okay.”
“I wasn’t aware of what the council was doing until Raphael took Harleigh. I know that’s what you’re wondering.” He addresses my fears.
I nod, glad to be back on the most important topic.
“I will tip the balance without fail in order to protect her.” I don’t care how angry He may get, but He surprises me by smiling.
“I have trusted the entire council for far too long, and distanced myself from what they were doing. I’m sorry I didn’t catch this sooner. They’ve gone into hiding with Raphael.” I continue to watch Him as His face takes on a somber expression. “Whatever you must do to protect her and her loved ones, do it. You won’t be tipping the scales, Son. You will be balancing them. Righting the wrongs that the council has caused for too long.”
“You’re going to help us?”
“As much as I can. You know I can’t show up on Earth like you can, but I will be watching and guiding. Do whatever it takes, Lucifer, because this will go to war.”
Before I can respond, I hear Harleigh calling for me, and I can feel her sorrow and fear deep in my bones.
Jumping up from my seat, I look over to my Father, and He gives me a small smile.
“She needs you.”
“What’s happening to her?” I ask, because I can feel her pain as she calls for me, but I know He knows. He knows everything.
“They will explain everything, all I need you to remember is to guide her through it. What happened was meant to happen in order for her to realize who she truly is. Don’t let it destroy her.”
