Haziel arched off the bed as he filled her.

“And you’re not done yet,” he growled as he pushed deeper into her.

Haziel felt full, but he pressed home until he was fully seated.

He rested his weight against her for a moment. Their skin was slick with perspiration as they breathed together.

And then he started to move. Slow deep thrusts that reached deeper inside her than she’d ever experienced before. It was hard to tell where he ended and she began.

Raising to his hands, he gained better leverage, and his thrusts grew more powerful, stroking in and out of her. He gripped her thigh and wrapped it around his waist. “Give me everything, angel.”

Haziel tilted her hips and took him even deeper.

A deeper orgasm bloomed inside her, and Wrath increased his pace.

The bed creaked and groaned beneath them, but he drove on relentlessly, thrusting them both toward the inevitable.

Pleasure spread over every inch of Haziel.

Wrath dropped his head and watched the slick slide of his flesh into hers.

Her climax arrived in a rush, and she dug her nails into him, the only solid point in her careening universe.

On a shout, he buried himself to the hilt inside her and froze as he came.

The aftershocks went on and on, shuddering through both of them in gradually gentling waves.

He lowered himself to his elbows and did that thing she was beginning to like way too much. He gently held her face and looked deep into her eyes. For an endless moment it felt like there was everything and nothing between them. An intimate vacuum in which words were not needed, and in which they were together in a way that shook her to her soul.

He kissed her, softly and gently, before rolling to lie by her side. His fingers found hers and tangled them together.

A tear trickled down her temple and into her mussed hair. That had been so much more than she could have expected or imagined, and she was in so much trouble now.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

In all his thousands of years of existence, Shade would have laughed at anybody who suggested he could derive such pleasure from lying beside a woman and watching her sleep. But here he was. And Eddie snored, not a loud sawing, but a gentle kind of huffy growl on her exhalations.

He spared a brief moment to mourn the passing of his lust hell prince rep, and then let it drift away in the sheer joy of knowing she was here with him, and he could protect her.

She was so beautiful and so utterly unaware of it. Her beauty went deeper than her peachy skin, or those arresting aquamarine eyes, into the stubborn, courageous, resilience of her being.

He wanted to touch her and assure himself that she really was lying beside him, but he also didn’t want to wake her.

Her breathing hitched, and she sighed. Her eyes remained closed as she said, “You’re staring.”

“I know.” There wasn’t another being in existence who would blame him. She was perfect.

“Psst!”

Shade sensed a demon was near, and he drew his power. If he hadn’t been so busy admiring Eddie, he might have noticed sooner. “Show yourself.”

He sorted through the impressions.

“No,” the demon whispered. “I don’t feel safe.”

Wrath’s horde. Low order. Imp. Led him to only one conclusion, and that meant ending the imp. “Yesterday,” he growled.

Eddie’s eyes shot open, and she frowned. “He’s here?”

“Fucker is hiding.” Shade let his senses widen. He regretted sending the hounds back to hell the night before to have a little nose around. Needless to say, they had not been happy about leaving Eddie, and would now be giving him shit for not being there to catch Yesterday.

“I need to explain first,” Yesterday whined. He had masked his presence, but not very well.

Shade lay still as he zeroed in on where the fucker was. He didn’t need to move a muscle to kill an imp.

Yesterday was cowering in the air-conditioning ducts. He yelped as Shade hit him with a blast of compulsion.

Eddie gripped Shade’s arm. “Don’t kill him.”

“Seriously?” He had to look at her to verify she wasn’t shitting him. After all the crap the asshole had set in motion, she was pleading for his existence.

She wrinkled her nose at him, which made him want to kiss her nose and cuddle her…aaaaand give her anything her heart desired. “Seriously,” she said.

The AC duct grate flew across the room as his power yanked Yesterday into the room.

“Eeeyooooow!” Yesterday slammed into the wall beside the bed, slid down, and dropped headfirst to the floor.

Shade towered over him, making no effort to turn down the menace. If this little asshole had led to Eddie being abducted in even the smallest way, Shade would end him and hand his ashes to Wrath. “Speak.”

Eddie was looking at him with an arousing mixture of impressed and a tad turned on. Wooing, he reminded himself harshly. Not seducing.

“That was very hostile.” Yesterday sniveled. “And after all I’ve suffered on your behalf.”

Well, he’d tried. Ending it was.

“What have you done on our behalf?” Eddie pushed herself to the edge of the bed and studied Yesterday.

Shade let the power fizzle in his palm but kept it active.

Yesterday threw her a pitiful look. “I am truly very hungry.”

Shade let his palms light with extinction fire.

“Not that hungry.” Yesterday yelped and leapt onto the bed beside Eddie.

He needn’t think that would keep him safe. The thing with wielding power for thousands of years was that your accuracy was pinpoint. “You betrayed Eddie to Wrath.”
