MyPrincess: You will be the first to know. Thank you. What changed your mind?

Me: I talked to my computer guy. He made some guesses about your job… any chance you have handcuffs…

MyPrincess: No. But I’m sure you can handle that. Must I do everything?

Kent came in then, carrying the inventory sheet, so we could finally make a real order. More than once recently, we had to hit up the various liquor stores and buy stock with cash. Our usual distributor was not happy when he found out. It wasn’t our fault we couldn’t get a hold of him over the phone. Or even find his number… since that was saved onto my cloud.

We got busy with work, but never too busy that I couldn’t occasionally send my girl a message.

As soon as she got off work, Fiona messaged me. I was sitting on her couch when she walked in.

“How did you get in here?” She set her purse on the little table, then made her way to me.

I waited there for her, then pulled her on my lap. “You aren’t the only one with skills. Mine are just in the physical realm.”

My hand was already inside her shirt, so she barely hummed as she kissed me. “Care to demonstrate?”

“Gladly.”

Seconds later, she was on her bare back on the cool hardwood floors. We heated them up quickly.

“I missed you today.” I admitted as I kissed her shoulder a few minutes later.

She leaned up enough to lick a bit of sweat off my chest. “I missed you too. Messaging you throughout the day made it easier.”

“And the co-worker?” It had been bugging me all day.

“Is just a friend, always has been. It wasn’t until recently that he started showing interest. I didn’t even know what he was doing. My secretary had to clue me in. I will find a way to let him down gently. I don’t want to hurt him or cause problems at work.”

“Don’t wait too long to talk to him. The longer it is, the more time he has to get his hopes up.”

Fiona sighed and laid her head back on the floor. “I know. It might already be. I let him take me to lunch on Friday. He said he wanted to celebrate my promotion, but we hadn’t had the chance. He had asked the week before, but I was headed for the bank to get that money. I asked for a raincheck, which he cashed in on Friday.”

“Speaking of money...” I regretfully left her on that floor, the sight of her laying there, her body available for my viewing pleasure, made it worth it though. I walked over to the counter and picked up the envelope. “I do believe this belongs to you.”

Fiona stood up and walked over to me, taking the envelope gingerly. “But… this was to pay off Randy's debt.”

“I don’t care about Randy or his debt. I care about you and your safety.”

“I am safe.” She argued.

“You have sacrificed too much for too long, Fi.”

“But that’s my job. To take care of them.”

“Well, now it’s my job to take care of you. Use this money to buy a car. I’d buy it for you, but…”

“I won’t let you.” She finished for me. “That’s what this money was for.”

I nodded. “I kind of figured. I also put in the 5 you gave him the week before.”

Fiona pushed the envelope into my chest. “I can’t. It wouldn’t be right.”
