Keith chuckled out a curse from behind me, relieved. “About time. How did you get her to fi…x…”
The elevator doors opened, and our jaws dropped.
“Guess we found your clothes.” He laughed so hard that Kent came running over. BoBo too. Then they joined in the laughter.
I searched the pile for my phone, then did my own colorful cheer again.
“How did you get it open? Did the little skunk really do all this?” BoBo was still a little bitter that she kept getting the better of him.
I couldn’t blame him. It was hard to take her seriously with how innocent she looked.
“Yes, Fiona was behind all of this. And from now on, if she shows up, you call me immediately.”
“Don’t worry, no one will let her in.” BoBo nearly snarled.
I laughed and kicked my clothes to the side so I could stand on the floor of the elevator. “No, you misunderstand. She’s mine now. You will make sure she is safe at all times. We will allow her to keep living in private, we will not let word get out about our relationship. It could affect her job, that is why she is so secretive.”
The three morons stared at me like they didn’t understand anything I just said.
“Fiona Reynolds is now my girlfriend. If she comes by, I want to know. If she is harmed, I expect you to protect her. She is part of our family now, and we take care of our own. But we will also keep her safe by not letting on that she is tied to us. Understand?”
They all nodded mutely.
“And Randy?” Keith asked, still a bit dumbfounded.
“Is no longer allowed to play our tables. He should be banned from all tables in the city if we can manage it.” I winked. “I had to promise something to get her to let me in last night. After that, it was easy to convince her to be mine.”
Now they laughed. This part of me they were familiar with.
Keith kicked more clothes over and stood next to me as we ascended toward the office.
“This is a change. I thought you were going to kill her.”
“Honestly, I planned many ways to do just that. She knows it too. But the minute her eyes met mine, all the fight bled out of me.” I shook my head. “I don’t get it, but I’m done fighting it.”
Keith squeezed my shoulder. “I’m happy for you. You look happy.”
“I am happy. Oh, and she was awake that night when you were in there. She said no more spying.” I shrugged and walked out. “Sorry.”
He grumbled sarcastically. “You saying I need to find my own entertainment?”
